Details

While there are many different sizes of grand piano, such as the concert grand, parlor or boudoir grand, and baby grand, they all share the same basic design. Their frame and strings are horizontal rather than upright, with the strings extending away from the keyboard and using gravity to return the action to its state of rest. With 52 white keys and 36 black keys covering a range greater than seven octaves, the grand piano also features 3 foot pedals that can be used to change the instruments sound in various ways. Invented at the end of the 17th century, use of the piano was widespread throughout Western society by the end of the 18th and still today remains one of the most popular instruments to learn, as it is believed that piano lessons help to teach children about concentration and self-discipline. Though widely considered to be a doorway into the world of classical music, the piano has been adapted by many over the years into jazz, bebop and ragtime by musicians such as Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington, and Herbie Hancock. It has even been incorporated into rock and roll music by Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Elton John, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles. The individual pieces are simply popped out of the two metal sheets and assembled without the use of solder or glue by simply bending and/or twisting the connection tabs. A metal base (to be assembled) comes with the model to hold it aloft. Assembled, it becomes an authentic, museum-quality laser cut replica of a grand piano.
